FIND YOUR ROAD PROJECT:

SR 710 from US 441 to L-63 Canal

Okeechobee County

The Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") is completing designs of SR 710 to be an urban arterial roadway. The proposed extension will serve as a bypass route to address traffic congestion at the intersection of SR 70 and US 441 (Segment 1 & 2) and to help reduce truck traffic through the City of Okeechobee. The length of the project from US 441 to east of L-63N Canal will be 3.58 miles with a 4-lane divided high speed urban typical section and 4-lane divided rural typical section. This project will also address additional drainage issues and bridges at Taylor Creek and L-63N Canal. The goal of Segment 3 & 4 is to increase capacity. On March 16, 2017, FDOT granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance to the study. The project is now eligible to move on to the next phase of development. FDOT has budgeted $9 million for right of way acquisition beginning in 2019. Construction has not yet been scheduled.
