The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) is currently in the Design phase of a project to widen SR 52 (Schrader Highway) from the Suncoast Parkway to east of US 41. The roadway will be improved to be a six lane divided road. Additionally, a 12 foot wide multi-use trail will be built along the north side of SR 52. The project will be about 3.8 miles in length. Right of way acquisition has been budgeted for $72 million and is currently underway. Construction is expected to begin in 2019.
