The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) and Lake County have begun preliminary planning for replacement of the State Road 44 bridge which goes over the St. Johns River. The current bridge would be replaced with a high level fixed span bridge. This project is currently in the design phase. A public information meeting is currently scheduled for August 15, 2018. The project is set to begin construction in summer of 2020.
