SR 50 - Orange County

Orange County

The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) plans to add lanes to widen State Road 50. This widening would take place between Avalon Park Blvd. and Chuluota Road, and would expand SR 50 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. That project is currently on hold. Instead, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is conducting the Colonial Parkway (SR 50) Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. This PD&E’s purpose is to evaluate alternatives that would reduce congestion, create mobility choices, improve safety, enhance evacuation routes, and avoid and minimize environmental impacts. These alternatives include: new local travel lanes on SR 50 and new limited access (toll) lanes. The proposed Colonial Parkway facility would extend from SR 408 to SR 520 along the SR 50 corridor. This study began in Fall 2017 and is expected to conclude in the Spring of 2019.
