Orange County is currently in the Design phase of a project to widen Econlockhatchee Trail from two to four lanes between Lake Underhill Road and SR 408. The expansion of Econlockhatchee Trail is separated into two separate phases that intend to improve traffic operations and drainage conditions in the immediate area as well as providing much needed pedestrian and bicycle facilities. The first phase begins north of SR 408 and ends south of SR 50 (Colonial Drive). The second phase is the southern portion of the project that begins south of Lake Underhill Road and ends north of SR 408. The Design phase is expected to complete in January 2019. Construction is scheduled to begin July 2019 and complete July 2021.
