How Often do Eminent Domain Cases go to Trial?

Hello, my name is Raymer Maguire, I’m a 30 year eminent domain practitioner that limits my practice to representing property owners and businesses. And the question at hand is, how often do eminent domain cases go to trial? Only about 1 out of 200 cases that I handle go to trial. So, in terms of time, that is approximately once every 5 years. And when I say, “go to trial” I’m talking about going to jury trial for a compensation trial. That’s not very often, and there are reasons that they don’t go to trial, and those reasons are why we in a short believe that Florida’s eminent domain laws are relatively favorable to property owners.
