The Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) is engaged in the Design phase to expand SR 50 (Cortez Road) from Lockhart Road to east of Remington Road. The project improvements include widening the existing four-lane divided through road located in Hernando County to a six-lane corridor with a raised median, 8 foot shoulders, 12-foot lanes, paved shoulders with added bike lanes and sidewalks located on both sides of the roadway. The improvement is anticipated to be just under 1 mile. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2020.
