The Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") is currently in the Design phase of a project to widen and realign SR 52 from Uradco Place to West of Fort King Road in Pasco County. The project has several parts: Between Uradco Place and Bayou Branch Canal, the existing road will be widened to a four lane divided roadway; East of Bayou Branch Canal, the new alignment of four lane divided SR 52 will be built south of the existing SR 52 tying into Clinton Avenue; Clinton Avenue between CR 579 and Fort King Road will be widened to a four lane divided road as well. Additionally, Clinton Avenue between CR 579 and US 301 will become the new SR 52. Right-of-way acquisition is underway and has been budgeted for $21 million. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2019. This 8.5 mile project will widen SR 52 from the existing two lane road to a four lane divided road. Additionally, a 12 foot wide multi-use trail will be built along the North side of the roadway. $12.2 million has been budgeted for right of way acquisition. Construction is not yet funded and will be scheduled at a later date.
